BlackBerry new operating system

BlackBerry to have new operating system as it takes on Apple's iPhone

MONTREAL - The BlackBerry will have a faster browser for Internet surfing with its new operating system as the competition to win consumers continues between Research In Motion (TSX: RIM) and iPhone maker Apple.

RIM showed off its new BlackBerry operating system to analysts in a video with music by the Black Eyed Peas at its annual trade show in Florida in Tuesday.

Mackie Research Capital analyst Nick Agostino said the new operating system puts the RIM device on par with the iPhone for ease of use.

"The demonstration they made would lead you to believe that they've levelled that playing field," said Agostino, who attended RIM's trade show in Orlando.

Analysts have often knocked the BlackBerry for a clunky, slow web browsing experience.

PCMag analyst Sascha Segan noted the BlackBerry now has a "modern" web browser that uses the same core technology that's in Apple, Android and Nokia smartphone browsers.

"The new web browser is going to improve RIM's position somewhat," Segan said. "This means that hopefully with BlackBerry 6.0 that you're going to have a full desktop-like web experience."

However, Segan noted the new operating system still lacks enough appeal for developers to create consumer applications for the BlackBerry.

"Apple and Android still have the edge in consumer apps," said Segan, managing editor for PCMag Mobile in New York.

"RIM is in danger of their phones becoming things that just do what they do out of the box, as opposed to smartphones that get new features through apps every day."

Apple has been able to get a lasting buzz from its consumers applications that offer everything from identifying snippets of songs to translation services to finding restaurants.

When connecting to someone, the new system will offer all the possible ways that you can talk to them, such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Segan said.

It also has a "fancier" music player and the operating system is designed for touch devices developed by Waterloo, Ont.-based RIM and BlackBerrys with keyboards.

Segan the new operating system is designed for current BlackBerry platforms, meaning many BlackBerrys can be upgraded as long as wireless carriers OK the upgrade.

He also said RIM announced it will enhance the browser with flash technology that powers videos on a lot of websites, something the iPhone does not support.

Shares in Research In Motion closed down 28 cents at $72.59 on Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Tip dan Trik Menawar Harga Rumah

1 komentar

Semoga bermanfaat

No Pain No Gain

0 komentar
You've heard the saying, "No pain no gain." Recently a little boy wrote t God and said, "Dear God, My brother just told me how much it hurt my mom when I was born, but he's just kidding, isn't he?" Unfortunately, not! Yet millions of women still choose to go through the terrible pain of childbirth, because they know it's only through the pain that they can experience the great joy of having their own child.

It reminds me of the boy who wanted to help a new baby butterfly that was struggling to get out of its cocoon, so he cut open the cocoon to make it easier. But because the butterfly did not have to go through the pain of pushing and using its own muscles to work its way out of the cocoon, it had no strength in its wings, so it just laid there on the ground and died.

A favorite expression of weightlifters and bodybuilders is "feel the burn". Because even though their muscles burn in pain while they're lifting the weights, they know it's making them bigger and stronger. "Pain causes some men to break, and other men to break records." Remember, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

Our problem is we've become "comfort creatures" that are "hooked on feelings". Don't you love the feeling of laying in your warm, comfortable bed in the morning? So why don't we just stay in bed our entire life? Wouldn't that be the happy, good life? Of course not! We know that's not real living! Because happiness and the good life is not just good feelings with no effort, pain or problems.

It's a simple fact that life's full of problems, both big and small. So when you have problems, remember everybody else does too. But it's our problems and pain that make us stronger, better people. So just like childbirth, we need to learn to work with our pain and problems to bring us a new better life. Your stumbling blocks are just stepping stones to success. It's our trouble that gives us traction to climb higher in our character and way of living.

Frequent Password Changes are Useless

2 komentar
Users hate them. They're a massive headache to network administrators. But IT departments often mandate them nonetheless: regularly scheduled password changes — part of a policy intended to increase computer security.

Now new research proves what you've probably suspected ever since your first pop-up announcing that your password has expired and you need to create a new one. This presumed security measure is little more than a big waste of time, the Boston Globe reports.

Microsoft undertook the study to gauge how effectively frequent password changes thwart cyberattacks, and found that the advice generally doesn't make much sense, since, as the study notes, someone who obtains your password will use it immediately, not sit on it for weeks until you have a chance to change it.

"That’s about as likely as a crook lifting a house key and then waiting until the lock is changed before sticking it in the door," the Globe says.

On the bright side, changing your password isn't harmful, either, unless you use overly short or obvious passwords or you're sloppy about how you remember them. (Many users forced to change their password too frequently resort to writing them on sticky notes attached to their monitor, about the worst possible computer security behavior you can undertake.)

Rather, frequent password changes are simply a waste of time and, therefore, money. According to the Microsoft researcher's very rough calculations: To be economically justifiable, each minute per day that computer users spend on changing passwords (or on any security measure) should yield $16 billion in annual savings from averted harm. No one can cite a real statistic on password changes' averted losses, but few would estimate it's anywhere approaching $16 billion a year.
