Is oracle financials certification worth the time and money it consumes?

0 komentar
I am an Accounts Receivable professional with 5+ years of experience. I wish to pursue the Oracle Financial (Receivables) certification. Should I opt for 11i version or the R12 version? I heard some people say that R12 has limited job opportunities. Finally please advise whether the certification is worth the time and money it consumes?

Shepherd and Consultant

0 komentar
A shepherd was herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced out of a dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in a Prada suit, Gucci shoes, Dior sunglasses and D+G tie, leans out the window and asks the shepherd: "If I tell you exactly how many sheep you have in your flock, will you give me one?"

The shepherd looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing flock and calmly answers: "Sure. Why not?"

The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his
AT&T cell phone, surfs to a NASA page on the internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo.
The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of complex formulae. He uploads all of this data via an email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response. Finally, he prints out a full-colour, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturised HP LaserJet printer, turns to the shepherd and says: "You have exactly 1,586 sheep".

"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my sheep," says the shepherd. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the boot of his car. Then the shepherd says to the young man: "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my sheep?"
The young man thinks about it for a second and then says: "Okay, why not?"

"You're a consultant," says the shepherd. "Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie. "But how did you guess that?"

"No guessing required," answers the shepherd. "You showed up here even though nobody called you, you want to get paid for an answer that I already knew, to a question I never asked AND you know sod all about my business.

"Now give me back my sheep."

Oracle 9i DBA online training

0 komentar
Online training has became very popular & every other institute is offering online trainings.
Considering our busy & multitasking lives, every online service is indeed a huge convenience in many respects. Yet, I came across lot of IT consultants who prefers class room trainings better than online unless hard pressed.
Even though the instructor & training material may be the same. Compared to the class room, the online training is not very effective unless interest in the student is too intense. As learning at convenience of home has many distractions, the bottom line students does not learn much. The difference will be like watching a movie on your laptop and in the multiplex theater.
However in your case, you do not have an option but to learn online. I'm sure knowing this you would double interest & reap the maximum benefit of online training.

Thieves Can Use Cards without Needing Security Code

0 komentar

Flaw in Chip and PIN Means

A fatal flaw in the chip and PIN technology that is supposed to guarantee the security of millions of credit and debit cards has been identified by scientists. The loophole means stolen cards can be used in shop terminals and bank cash machines without being identified, it is claimed.

In theory, thieves would be able to make purchases and cash withdrawals without needing to key in the four digit PIN or being detected. The chip and PIN system became universal on Valentine's Day 2006, replacing the use of signatures to authorize purchases.

At the time banks said the introduction of the PIN system would reduce card fraud because even if a card was stolen it could not be used by a thief who did not know the number. Card fraud did fall initially, however, the figure rose 43 per cent by the end of 2008 to £610million and is thought to have risen even higher last year.

Professor Ross Anderson, from the Cambridge University Computer Lab, has uncovered a number of ways in which the system can be beaten. However, he claims the latest discovery is shocking in its simplicity.

Prof Anderson claims the banks may now need to rewrite the security software around the entire chip and PIN system in order to make it fully secure. The researchers discovered that a small circuit board containing a computer chip and transmitter can be attached to the chip on the plastic card and concealed up the sleeve.

This communicates with a computer stored in a backpack worn by the criminal when using the card at a till or cash machine. When the user is asked for the four digit PIN to authorize the transaction, they only need to key in a random code.

The software attached to the card then signals to the till terminal that a correct PIN has been used.

'We think this is one of the biggest flaws that has ever been uncovered against the PIN system and I have been in this business for 25 years,' said Prof Anderson.

Details of the flaw were revealed on BBC's Newsnight programme last night. It showed how four different cards could be authorize for purchases in a Cambridge University canteen by using a fake PIN of 0000.

Consumer lawyer, Stephen Mason, told the programme: 'The loopholes in the chip and PIN system are serious and I don't think they have been properly-addressed by the banks. They really have to think about this seriously.'

The introduction of chip and PIN brought with it a greater risk that victims of card fraud would have to carry the cost of any losses. Some banks have refused to refund losses where they argued consumers had been careless with their cards or failed to keep their PIN a secret.

Prof Anderson added: 'The banks have been lying about the security of their systems and the industry regulators have been completely gullible.' But the banks trade body, the UK Cards Association, denied the discovery was serious.

'We believe that this complicated method will never present a real threat to our customers cards,' it said.

LOVE

I had always dreamed of having a love like ours...a complete love, a love that I trust and believe in, a love that I can truly be myself with. You my darling, are my "one and only true love".

It can often be very hard for people to be honest. In a way, they think that it's easier to lie. If you put the effort into being honest, it shows them that you care and that you are willing to make it work. If you want to be loved, you should strive to keep honesty in your relationship.

FACEBOOK NOT FOR KIDS

0 komentar
There’s a lot to like about Facebook. Status updates for example. Through them I’ve learned when a friend was excited about an upcoming trip to New York, or in need of prayer because of their medical situation, or stressed because both their children had the flu, or happy because they were expecting another little one. One friend’s update even helped me save valuable minutes every laundry day:

“I have a laundry confession – I don't fold underwear. It's true. Try it! C'mon – free yourself from folded underwear tyranny!”

This website is often derided as a timewaster, but if it weren’t for Facebook I would have been forever condemned to worrying about wrinkles in items of clothing that no one even sees!
A starting spot

So there’s a lot to like about Facebook, but the site does have an unpleasant side. Like the Internet itself, it is not a place teens should be allowed to go unmonitored. And younger children should not be allowed on the site at all.

How young is too young? You have to be at least 13 to get a Facebook account (though many children get around this restriction by simply pretending to be older). If 13 is the standard this secular group sets, that seems a good indicator that Christian parents should consider an older age limit.
Problematic applications

Some of the parents I’ve talked to have signed up to Facebook specifically to keep track of what their children are up to. But even some of these parents are oblivious to the dark side of Facebook. This is a site that encourages curiosity – the more you explore the more cool applications, pictures and games you can find. But if children do start exploring they are sure to come across Facebook’s sleazy side. A quick perusal of the 20 most popular applications revealed that at least 11 of them had material that was not appropriate for children… or adults for that matter.

1) Funwall: Lots of cute posters, but about 10% of the material is pornographic
3) Superwall: Users can share videos, half of which seem to be pornographic
4) Bumperstickers: Contains a category called “F-you”
5) Owned: Allows users to buy and sell friends
6) Texas Hold ’Em Poker: A great place to practice gambling
7) Friends For Sale: The name says it all
13) Super Poke: Loads of street slang sexual references
16) My Sexy Friends: Encourages the objectifying and rating of friends
17) Mob Wars: For anyone who wants to be the head of a murderous gang
19) Zoosk: A dating service
20) Likeness: How similar are you to the movie stars you idolize?
Other problems
21) My friends tag me some trash pictures and it becomes my fault :)

Pornography is a big problem but applications like Fun Wall, SuperWall and Bumpersticker are also problematic in that they contain clever insults, cutting putdowns and vulgar jokes. This is just the sort of source material that teenage boys use to impress their friends in the schoolyard, and Facebook is an endless source.

The site has also been used by students in our Reformed schools to pass comments to each other about their favorite and least favorite teachers. We all know that students have always said nasty things about teachers, but doing it on Facebook brings it to a whole new level. The mean words spoken between students in a school hallway are soon forgotten, but the same words posted on a Facebook page encourage friends to add to and expand on these insulting words.

The same thing can also happen between friends – silly insults spoken between friends aren’t that significant. But they become far more hurtful when they are posted on Facebook for dozens and even hundreds of others to read.
I’ve seen some rather horrid material being said by Christian youth. I can only assume that their parents don’t know what these children are up to.
Conclusion

And that’s the real problem; many parents aren’t monitoring their children’s use of Facebook. A responsible parent always knows where their children are and it shouldn’t be any different with the Internet and with this website.

Like the Internet itself Facebook has some amazing content that makes it very attractive. Facebook allows friends to share photos and news, keep track of birthdays and email addresses, organize events, play games like Scrabble and Boggle together, and even monitor the cheapest plane fares to Europe. Mature users can decide to make use of the good material and ignore the rest.

But younger users may not make the right choices so parents must takes steps to know what their offspring are up to. To do that, you’ll have to sign up as your child’s Facebook friend and check their page regularly. If you don’t know how, ask your child or someone in their early twenties and they’ll almost certainly be able to help. And if your child is under 13 get him off the website. If the world admits the site is inappropriate for children this young why would we think different?

5 Relaxation Techniques for Panic Situation

0 komentar
You must have panic situation, learn to relax then.
There are some relaxation techniques. Among meditation, muscle, breathing, and visualization relaxation. These steps can also make you relax:

1. Sitting or lying in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Let your jaw open, relaxed and eyelids heavy, but not closed.

2. Check your body mentally. Starting from the big toe and slowly climbed into the calves, thighs, buttocks, body, arms, hands, fingers, neck and head. Focus to each section and find the section under stress. Imagine that the tension is melted.

3. Tighten the muscles in one area of your body. Tighten the muscles in the hand count of 5 and relax. Moving to other muscles like the shoulders, face, arms, legs, and buttocks. This is a good way to release tension.

4. Just let all thoughts flashed, but do not focus. Suggest yourself that you are relaxed and calm. That your hands warm, heart beating normally, and you feel peaceful.

5. Breath slowly, regularly, and in. Once relaxed, imagine you are in your favorite beautiful and quiet place. After 5-10 minutes, go back slowly.

Functional or Technical consultant?$

0 komentar
Though in the long run functional consultants tend to earn more and rise to the position of PMs. However, considering that you are a fresh graduate it would be a better choice to go on the technical path initially. Oracle technical can be a highly rewarding career choice. Being a functional consultant requires more experience and exposure which you may not have at the moment.
After a few years as a technical consultant, you may chart a path for yourself as a functional guy.
